About Calcowa

Calcowa is a free collection of online calculators and converters. Our goal is simple: give you the exact number you need, plus the understanding to trust it, faster than a quick web search. Every tool shows its formula and a worked example, so you can see how the answer was reached rather than just taking it on faith.

We cover math, geometry, finance, health and fitness, construction, conversions, dates and times, education, developer utilities, and energy. Each calculator is built around a standard, published formula, and where a topic has more than one accepted method, we let you choose and explain the difference. You can read more about our approach on the methodology page.

Who runs Calcowa

Calcowa is founded, built, and edited by Muhammad Younus, a professional web developer and SEO specialist. Over the past several years, Muhammad has built, optimized, and ranked websites and web tools for clients around the world, working across development, technical SEO, and content. That day-to-day work is exactly why Calcowa exists.

The idea came from a simple, repeated frustration: too many calculator sites hand you a number with no explanation, no formula, and no way to check the work. Some are flat-out wrong. Muhammad wanted a set of tools he would actually trust himself, so he built one, and then kept adding to it. Every calculator on Calcowa is coded, tested against known values, and documented by hand, not spun up automatically.

How we build and verify every calculator

Accuracy is the whole point of a calculator, so we take it seriously. Here is the process behind each tool:

  • We start from a published formula. Every tool is based on a standard, widely accepted equation or definition, not a homemade shortcut.
  • We test against known answers. Before a calculator goes live, we run it against worked examples and reference values to confirm it returns the correct result, including edge cases.
  • We show our work. The formula and a step-by-step example appear on the page, so you can verify the logic yourself instead of trusting a black box.
  • We state assumptions and rounding. Where a result depends on a choice (a rounding rule, a standard density, a regional convention), we say so plainly.
  • We review and update. Tools and articles carry a published and last-updated date, and content is checked by the Calcowa editorial team before and after publishing.

Our sources

Where a calculation relies on established standards or data, we lean on authoritative, primary sources rather than second-hand blogs. Depending on the topic, that includes bodies such as the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for units and conversions, the National Academies of Sciences and public health agencies for health guidance, and standard engineering and mathematical references for construction and geometry. When we cite a figure, we aim to point to where it comes from.

What makes us different

  • The formula is always shown. Every result comes with the math behind it and a worked example.
  • No sign-up, ever. The tools run in your browser, and you never need an account.
  • Accuracy first. We use widely accepted, published formulas and current reference data, and we state our assumptions and rounding.
  • Free and independent. Calcowa is kept free through advertising, and we are not owned by any larger company.

Corrections and feedback

We are not perfect, and we would rather fix a mistake than defend it. If you spot an error in a formula, a result, or an explanation, please tell us and we will investigate and correct it promptly. Every correction makes the site better for the next person, so we genuinely welcome them.

Editorial independence and funding

Calcowa is free to use and stays that way through advertising. Ads never influence the math, the formulas, or what we recommend, and they are kept separate from the tools and content. We are independently run and not owned by any larger company, which means our only job is to be useful to you.

A note on estimates

Many of our finance, health, and fitness tools produce estimates for general guidance, not professional advice. Formulas describe most people well, but individual situations vary, so please treat these results as a helpful starting point and consult a qualified professional for important decisions.
